Church Services Now Have Resumed

Dear First Baptist Church Family and Friends,

The First Baptist Church of Bennington VT is pleased to announce that the church has reopened its doors for Sunday Services. Services start at 10:30am and last about one hour. To protect our most vulnerable members, we are following state guidelines in regards to the corona virus. If you are fully vaccinated, a mask is no longer required. We are singing all verses to the hymns once again. We are meeting in the church sanctuary which allow plenty of space between us.

We currently have a rotation of Pastors who preach the sermon and conduct the service. Our usual schedule is a follows: Pastor Joe DeWitt preaches the first Sunday of each month, Dr. Alan Ingalls preaches the second and fourth Sunday of each month, and Pastor John Brigham preaches the third and fifth Sunday of each month. In July Pastor Alan Ingalls will preach on the second and third Sunday and Pastor Bingham will preach on the fourth Sunday.

After church you are free to enjoy coffee hour. From time to time we will offer a special “grab and go meal” for you to enjoy. For those that cannot attend, repeats of the Sunday Services are available for view the week following the service on CAT-TV and on our website.

The church annex, including the church office, is closed. On Sundays the annex doors will be open as an alternate entrance to the sanctuary. You can email the office at fboffice@sover.net and a church volunteer will get back to you within several days. However, the annex will be open on Sundays for access to the church service.

Unfortunately, the church is unable not provide financial assistance with bills and does not hand out vouchers. The church is part of the Greater Bennington Interfaith Services (GBICS) located at 121 Depot Street. GBICS is home to the Kitchen Cupboard, the Food and Fuel Fund, and the Bennington Free Clinic. To contact GBICS call 802-447-3700 or visit gbicsbennington.org . For other services, such as rental and bill assistance, please contact BROC at 802-665-1448 or visit www. broc.org

Checking In

How is everyone doing during this current pandemic?  We trust that everyone
is doing fine and that we are enjoying all this extra time that we now have!
BUT we want to get back to “normal” which will be different I’m sure.
Normal, as I have heard, is only a setting on a dryer!

Have you been able to watch our services on CAT-TV or on this website? Each week we have hadthe privilege of joining together in worship with music and the Word of God.

Thank God for all the pastors who have come here on either a Tuesday,
Wednesday,or Thursday to pre-record the weekly worship service for the First Baptist Family and other interested people.

Since this a trying time for all, many people have recommitted their lives
to God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Many, I have heard have
made a first-time commitment to Christ.  So, in spite of the adversity and
trials and tests, people are coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus!  Thank
God; He uses all things to bring us all to salvation and also a closer walk
with Him.  Remember the old hymn, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.”

Psalm 91 tells us that we are sheltered under the wings of our God.  Psalm
23 promises us that when we walk through the valley of the “shadow” of
death, we are to fear no evil, for “He will never leave us, nor forsake us.”
What great promises!  His banner over us is Love as it states in the Song of
Solomon.

We will keep you informed as to when the church will be open again with all
the “new” guidelines for public gatherings.  God bless each of you.  Know
that we are praying for you and that God has you in the Palm of His Hand.

May God richly bless you, beloved ones.

In Christ,
Charlie Marshall
